Caligola, a cultural association based in Venice, Italy, organizes jazz, folk and blues concerts
since 1980. In 1994 we founded an independent jazz label with the same name, Caligola
Records. It seemed therefore natural to choose the best live tapes among more than one
thousand concerts, and make them available for music fans all over the world, the younger
and older ones. For this reason we liked to call this series Historical Concerts, hoping these
tapes will be appreciated by as many people as possible. The third release, Odetta’s «Live in
Mestre Venezia 1985», offers the recording of her memorable Italian concert of 28th
November 1985, a touching memory of the American legendary folksinger who influenced,
among others, Bob Dylan and Joan Baez.
