Live recorded by Iztok Zupan on 4h July 2017, in Udine (Udin&Jazz festival);
mixed and mastered by Claudio Zambenedetti, in September 2017,
at Imput Level Studios, San Biagio di Callalta (Treviso).
seguire. È uno spettacolo vedere come nessuna sollecitazione rimanga
Era
presente a quell’esibizione anche Neri Pollastri, che commenta su “All
About Jazz”: «…

The fourth album released for Caligola by the Friulian flautist,The fourth album
released for Caligola by the Friulian flautist, a well-established protagonist of
contemporary European jazz, comes, as the previous one («Il sogno di una cosa», 2016),
from a successful live recording, demonstrating, if need be, that sometimes concerts
are the best recording studios for a band, if close-knit and with a strong project behind it.
In this case, the album is the complete reenactment of a successful performance held
at the “Udin&Jazz 2017” festival, which had already had a very good response.
The critic Gerlando Gatto writes about that concert on “A proposito di jazz”:
«…that of Massimo and his mates was one of the most successful performances
in the entire festival: the music flows smoothly, without hesitation, with the ears and
minds of all four musicians well open, to anticipate the direction that the band mate
intends to follow. It is quite a show to see how no solicitation remains unanswered,
just as total improvisation does not mean chaos, but the construction of a discourse
with its precise motivation». Neri Pollastri was also present at the show, commenting
on “All About Jazz”: «… De Mattia is one of the most valid and intransigent radical
improvisers of our country, and the quartet he assembled saw another uncompromising
improviser, Zlatko Kaucic, then Giorgio Pacorig, another artist who does not hold
back in the face of extreme situations, and Luigi Vitale on vibes… Perhaps because
of the not ideal environmental situation, which pushed the four to raise volumes and
dynamics, the concert was not only beautiful but also so engaging that the spectators,
even those less accustomed to the genre, have remained in their place, attentive
and participant, until the end. Of course, the show was effective even from the
scenic point of view… and the outcomes were obviously never linear or lyrical,
but turbulent and engaging, with great power of attraction and communication ».
